28_8_2007 ENVIRONMENT AGENCY WRRG - Environment Agency

28-8-2007 WRRG to Environment Agency
(Ref; Environment Agency letter dated 14th August 2007)
"Your contention that you have no statutory powers to intervene on this matter is both ludicrous and illogical.
You have been actively involved since 1997 including Bradiford Flood Defence Scheme you are therefore aware that in order to receive funding for its construction and maintenance Bradiford Water has been ungraded to a main river.
We consider you have deliberately misrepresented the facts.
"Negative ecological impact". The S106 does not permit tipping of any kind in the Wildlife Corridor or on the Flood Plain in which it is situated. We estimate that the triangular area referred to as "The Meadow" and covered with a depth of 100 mm
(4 inches) of hardcore and debris represents an approximate total of 120 tonnes minimum hence the need for heavy plant and machinery to complete these works.
As the Planning Department quite clearly has no idea of the quantity transferred or whether any of the existing soil has been removed from the site, we are unable to accept that the overall land level has not been raised within the indicative Flood Plain.
The attached aerial/ground photographs/location maps (with above sea level measurements) shows the extent and precise areas of all the dump sites.
